Update

Well I finally got off my ass and started doing some stuff necessary to being, like, moved and stuff. I now have an Indiana license, so I guess I'm officially a Hoosier now. I also set up a new bank account because the bank I used in Michigan is not, well, here. Work is going well, as in I can't say I really hate it (yet).

Oh yeah, my grandma's cancer is in remission! Yay!

You are sensitive about being treated fairly and feel resentful and bitter if you think you are being cheated, however you experience panic, confusion, and helplessness when under pressure or stress. You tend not to talk much and prefer to let others control the activities of groups. You are not interested in the arts and do not display aesthetic sensitivity. You do not like to claim that you are better than other people, and generally shy from talking yourself up, however you are not affected strongly by human suffering, priding yourself on making objective judgments based on reason. You are more concerned with truth and impartial justice than with mercy. You are not an overly cautious person. You will think about alternatives and consequences but make up your mind fairly quickly.

Take a Personality Test now or view the full Personality Report.

The best ugg Boots.

FCN

Wow! That was an amazing con, especially for one in its first year. I was really impressed with how well run everything seemed. I could complain only about the hotel, but it isn't the con's fault that the climate control (and the beds!) were none too good. However, that was all vastly overshadowed by the awesomeness that was the con itself! It was just the right size and I never felt like I needed to rush from one event to another. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I ended up volunteering about 7 hours for the con, checking badges. Because of that I missed the Friday night dance but I made up for it the next night.

It was great to see 2 and Uncle Kage perform live again, and do more of their back and forth stuff after the shows were officially over. The Alcohol Appreciation panel was funny as fuck! 2, Jibba, and Kage all talking about booze while getting drunk. Can't get better than that. Or can you? Seeing everyone recording 2 Sense live (2, Jibba, Nik, Kage and Garr) was really cool. Even though I've already seen that show, I can't wait for it to be released so I can listen again. But the best part?

THE DANCES!!!!

Oh my God, I haven't danced since MFF '05 and needless to say I was sore from it. But I put on my fursuit and danced my tail off all through the Saturday dance. Huge thanks to all the DJs and to Skan for providing LASERS! That was probably the coolest thing ever at a con and I hope Skan can bring them back next year. 2 was pretty much the man in charge of running the lasers and he did a great job. It was kinda funny, watching him work those things. He was really getting into it. I'm still a bit sore from dancing even today, but it was so worth it.

Seriously a great first year con and I'm sure next year will be even better.

Huge props to all the staff members for working so hard to make this thing happen. Thanks to all the other volunteers as well for helping out. Thanks to 2, Nik, Jibba and Kage (and Garr, too) for being funny as hell. Thanks DJs and Skan again for laser pwnage. Pics to follow soon!

*dusts off this old thing*

Wow, it's been a while. I'm not even sure what to write in here. Not much has happened, to be honest. I've been gaming, playing WoW a bunch, as well as Lego Star Wars (both I and II). I finally got my epic flying mount (Swift Blue Gryphon), and done about half of Karazhan. Got myself a couple epics out of it, but sadly haven't been able to go back yet.

Where my job status is concerned, I'm still in the same job, and I still don't like it. There's been a bunch of stupid shit going down there, as in people getting fired over ridiculous stuff. It's kinda annoying to explain, but basically everyone has to watch what they say, especially when it's a joke. Which is really difficult, because we are third shift and we like to make off-color and otherwise insulting kinds of jokes.

I will, however, be attending Furry Connection North in April, and I am volunteering, so I'll be doing set up/tear down and/or helping in the sponsor's lounge. Hopefully, this will give me the opportunity to actually connect with and get to know some of the MIFurs, since I am never able to make it to meets. The way I figure it is, yeah I'm shy, but if I force myself into a situation where I have to deal with others it's much better for me.

I was also sick recently with a sinus infection. That's cleared up, but I was told by the doctor that my blood pressure was high. Of course, this was an immediate cue to begin stressing out and thereby, I'm sure, raise my blood pressure even more. I've sorta calmed down now, especially after checking it at one of those blood pressure cuffs at Meijer and seeing it was down to 145/88 (down from a high of 171/91). Though I'm still not quite over it yet.

Slow broadband...

And boy, do I mean SLOW! Lately I've been getting around 36Kb/s down and 10Kb/s up. This is dialup speed! Whiskey tango foxtrot? I've reset the modem and router many times, changed cables, removed splitters, removed router, and called tech support, and nothing! They suggested it could be the wiring in the building, but it seems a bit odd that suddenly I have bad cabling. I've had no problems with my cable TV, of course I'm sure that's not as sensitive as broadband, but still...This slowness is killin' me! ARRGH!

Not a whole lot going on lately.

I'm (finally) going on vacation starting Tuesday. I'll be heading out to Vermont to see my folks for a long weekend. Long drive, which may require stopping halfway. I'm not certain I can do a 14 hour drive straight through. We'll see!

Aside from that, I've been really down on myself lately with regards to my job/lack of career. My main issue is with myself, naturally. What it comes down to is two things: my indecisiveness with regards to what I want to do, and my lack of self-confidence. I had thought what I wanted to do was computer networking, or possibly tech support (preferably in person vice over the phone). Now I'm not so sure. I don't know if it's my frustration with trying to find a job in these fields and repeated failures to do so, or if it's simply a question of my interests changing.

But if that's the case, then I really can't think of any other field in which I'd like to work. I have racked my brain trying to think of something else that interests me, but I really can't come up with anything. And my job is really getting me down. It doesn't really help that everyone I work with bitches about working for Sam's. Not that I blame them; it does suck large quantities of ass.

le sigh...

Wow, haven't posted here in a while...

Wish I had something really nice to post, but alas, I don't. Rather, I am faced with something that terrifies me. On Friday morning I am getting two moles on my back removed for biopsy. What prompted this was the appearance of several new moles (all small and light in color). Let me say, I don't handle that kind of stress which is caused by things like waiting to find out if one has skin cancer. I've been so stressed lately about this and with it so close, it's really bad right now. I am really hoping that I can find out results quickly, since the place where I'm getting it done is a dermatology and skin surgery center. Last time I had this done I was a nervous wreck... I know it's pointless to worry now, but I'm doing it anyway, because that's how I am.

Porcupine Tree!!!1!~

I drove out to Detroit tonight (well, technically it would be 'last night'...) to see Porcupine Tree at the Majestic. And wow, I can't say enough good about the show. It was so amazing to see them perform live. The atmosphere was fairly subdued compared to many other concerts I've been to, but this is a experimental/psychadelic prog rock band, and the crowd had a lot of people in their 30's and 40's by the looks of it. But PT is so amazing as a group and to hear the songs done live is just...wow...plus Steven Wilson is kinda hot even at 40 (srsly).

The opening band was also amazing, and one I'd never heard of before by the name 3 (even though there were five of them...). Excellent sound from these guys, very technical playing at times and always furious. The singer/guitarist played without a pick and on the last song was playing so harshly that he broke two middle strings whilst playing, then ripped the rest out after he finished. That was kinda cool.

I highly recommend checking out both bands.

I really don't wanna go to work. I'm fucking sick and tired of cleaning up after other people's messes. It's not fair that I should have to stay late to fix things when even the people who are in charge get to leave.

Look Around You

This past weekend I went to a furmeet at Great Lakes Crossing mall. I had an okay time, and it would have been much better if I could manage to get over being so shy. But then, this wasn't really an optimal time to get to know people, since there were around 20 furs there and I didn't know anyone, so I was really uncomfortable. So I was kinda depressed on the way home, because I'd really wanted to be more outgoing. The best way for me to get more comfortable with new people is to be in a small group, like four or five other people, so I'm not so overwhelmed. A

Tuesday I had gotten up early to take my car to the dealer (again) for the recall. They had told me that they couldn't perform the recall because, according to the computer records, my warranty had already been extended, which isn't something that they do until the recall has been performed. But after they had spoken to the Nissan representative, he told them to go ahead and do it, since he couldn't determine where the recall work had supposedly been performed. So my car is all happy and stuff now that it has had an oil change and the left rear tire reinflated (it had a nail in it).

I also got a raise at work recently. Every year we get an evaluation and you need a minimum score of 13/16 to get any raise. For 13-15 points you get a .40/hour raise (I think) and for the full 16/16 you get .60/hour. I'm happy to say I got the full 16 points :) My supervisor told me that I need to work on a few things, like being more assertive (especially about getting a forklift), and if I worked on that, she didn't see any reason why I couldn't become a Team Lead. Now, this isn't really something that I want to do. I mean, I hate the job, and moving up is another step towards permanence. But then, if I did do it, I'd make more money, and I certainly could still quit for something better. I'm pondering this one in the back of my mind with any spare brain cycles that I have. Anyway, it still felt good to be praised and to know that they do appreciate what I do and how hard I work, as well as being recognized for it.

Tried my paw at making meatloaf, and I must say, it came out quite well! The only thing I need to change is that I need more turkey gravy next time. Jon also requested that I make andouille porkchops again on Saturday, for himself, his cousin Mike and I. Naturally, they were just as good as the first time I made them (because I'm awesome). We ate early, because we had to be on our way to Flint to see FLAW!!!!!! (Flaw is my boyfriend's favorite band evah in life. They're also his cousin's fav).

So we got to see a few pretty good bands open for them. First was Strawman, who kinda lacked energy and weren't really that good. Next was Amendment, who were pretty damn good. The singer/guitarist was pretty impressive. Then there was Nailgun Strategy, who kicked lots of ass. Tons of energy, and really fuckin' loud! Then Flaw, of course, who were amazing (-ly loud). I'm not a huge fan of them, but they're really good. They put on a great show and were pretty cool. The drummer was really nice and gave Jon some tips on learning to play drums.

Jon and Mike were really close to the stage, right under the speaker in fact, and they both got pictures with all the band members, which made their night :) My throat is pretty messed up right now (and I didn't even scream all that much, since I don't know their lyrics that well) and the ringing in my left ear is still pretty loud. I think it's time that I start wearing ear plugs at concerts, since I hate staying in the back, expecially if it's at a club.

I tried my hand at making some andouille porkchops on Saturday, and I have to say they turned out AMAZING! Just like mom's :) I will definately have to try more of the recipes she gave me.

On a less positive note, I just finished off my bottle of vodka :( But hey, it's lasted for...3 weeks, maybe? I think that's pretty good!
